Nationalpark Hunsruck-Hochwald

Tips for your visit to the National Park

Seasonal and weather-appropriate clothing is important to guarantee that your booked event is fun for everyone and to minimise risks. Please keep in mind that our tours take place at higher altitudes where the temperatures are colder than in the valley. Warm clothes, a jacket and waterproof clothes for bad weather are therefore strongly recommended. On the other hand, you also have to make sure you are protected from the sun during the summer. Therefore, please remember good sun protection i.e. sun cream with high UVA/UVB protection and a hat, and make sure you drink enough. Please take our recommendations into consideration and pass this information on to children and parents. Sturdy footwear is essential for all outdoor events for safety reasons

We recommend that you wear clothes which cover as much of your body as possible and check your entire body and scalp for ticks in the evening after spending the day outside. Ticks can transmit diseases such as Lyme borreliosis and TBE. The Birkenfeld region, like many others, is a risk area for TBE. If in doubt, ask your doctor. Please pass this information on to children’s parents.
